Why is United States gasoline expensive if we buy so little fuel and oil from Russia?
Given that energy items are priced based upon world commodity exchanges, the pricing in other places worldwide ultimately impact rates in US markets.
The response lies in the globalization of oil pricing. Even if USA never bought any oil from Russia, if other nations that used to buy oil from Russia stop purchasing oil, gas, and other petroleum items from Russia, they would purchase it from other nations, and that would rise prices worldwide.
Even without a formal boycott, shipping companies are hesitant to dock at Russian ports to transport Russian ships and Russian items are not invite at numerous western ports. Even when offering their oil at a discount to world rates, Russian oil business are having trouble exporting petroleum items.
