Russia Steps Up Satellite Jamming
At the start of the war, Russia began attacking Ukraine’s communication infrastructure, which included cellular phone and Internet service.
Starlink responded by sending thousands of Starlink terminals to Ukraine, and reconfigured Starlink’s system to provide service to Ukraine and authorize mobile Starlink service to those terminals. Starlink internet helped Ukraine’s forces stay in contact, share intelligence, and control their drones.
Russia tried to knock out Starlink service in Ukraine by jamming the signal, but jamming the signal coming down from a satellite requires local jamming stations.

Russia Begins GPS Jamming in Ukraine
Preparing for a final battle to secure control of the Eastern Ukraine, the Russian army has deployed a network of jamming stations that interfere with the signals from the 24 GPS satellites in the Navistar Global Positioning System. This means that any civilian or military equipment that depends on receiving signals from the Navistar GPS satellites will not work in the areas where the Russian jamming stations are active,
Russia has its own constellation of GPS satellites, as do Europe and China, and some GPS receivers (example Air530) can use the signals from more than one GPS constellation, so it remains to be seen how much Russia’s jamming will affect Ukraine’s defenses.
