Russian stores empty shelves have the Russian people starting to feel the pain of sanctions, and those goods that are available are now much more expensive. There are many causes of this, but all are related to the Russian war against Ukraine and the resulting sanctions against Russia:
- Russia has been shut out of the SWIFT international system that facilitates international funds transfer, and this makes it very difficult for Russian import companies to pay for goods.
- Many international companies immediately stopped doing business with Russia when the war began, and many closed their offices and stores in Russia.
- The leading ocean freight carriers stopped all shipping to and from Russia
- The major air courier and air freight carriers have ended service to Russia
- Financial and trade sanctions against Russia have crushed the value of the Russian ruble, which at one point was as low as US$0.066 as of 3/31/2022 is worth about US$0.012, however the real value of the ruble is in doubt because it is being propped up by various temporary strategies by the Russian government and will likely fall back down to a very low value soon.
The effect of these sanctions has been to create a national shortage of all almost all imported goods as the warehouses and stores empty of their inventories, and many domestically produced goods are either made in foreign-owned factories that have shut down or incorporate imported parts or supplies, which are no longer available.
This Bad Situation in Russia will get Worse
Over time, Russian factories, which have many imported machines that will no longer have spare parts available, will start to break down. Many trucks and cars in Russia are imported, and they will break down and require spare parts that are no longer available. Eventually, the few factories that will be left operating will need to rely on the limited number of Russian-made cars and trucks to bring their goods to market.

Lol!! I am a Russian woman and I relate to that!!! I still think it is best if they just remove the individual who is causing this. No one needs to suffer because of Putler!!!
Русскому народу, который еще спит, пора проснуться. Если вы хотите иметь шанс быть по-настоящему счастливым, вы должны революционизировать систему, которая у вас есть сегодня.
While innocent Ukrainians are being murdered my sympathy for their Russian counterparts struggling for sugar and bog roll is severely limited.
Their suffering is minimizing the sufferings of their brothers and sisters in Ukraine, so they should be honored to be assisting in ending the war. Also they are still breathing and that is something that many Ukrainians no longer enjoy.
LET US WATCH, LISTEN and pay attention to how long the Russian people defend Putin.
The more difficult and uncomfortable life gets for them, the better. CHEERS UKAINE!
@William D I do not which to see people suffer but sometimes it the only way to get ahead praying for Ukrainian
@William D Umm, just a hunch but I think the majority of the world would agree that on the suffering scale – it ain’t the people of Russia, compared to what Russia is doing to the people of Ukraine. So if the people of Russia, who as Anton A said, ELECTED PUTIN, have to feel a little discomfort in their daily lives, well then ain’t that just too goddamn bad?! They’ll get no sympathy from me.
Grind russia to the core. They must learn a lesson to not mess with anyone. 🇺🇦🕊🕊
@Ziva Radlovacki Yes, and we love it.
@Aegis thank you. Say no more.
They must be very happy with the outcome that Putin brought to them.
Putin is jealous of what Ukraine could become if it joined the EU, Putin cannot allow UKraine to move forward, he must hold it back at all costs. I support a free and independent Ukraine. 💙💛
@Pink Lady Yeah, he certainly does not want another prosperous country on his border for his brightest citizens to escape to.
@Douglas Frantzen he likes more countries like kazajistán or belarus… Mongolia, china or nortcorea:3 Petit comite hahaha :3
Ukraine wants to be with us winners and we are happy to have them.
Every day more and more Russians flee to Georgia, Kazakhstan, … to escape from restrictions, inflation and sanctions.
The prices of rents in those countries are getting incredibly high cause of the new russian residents
Stay strong Ukraine! Italy supports you 🇺🇦 🇮🇹 🟦🟨
Yeah, this already happened in California….
I don’t feel the least amount of pity for them. Their babies aren’t dying, their cities aren’t destroyed, they aren’t being raped and shot. No. I don’t feel sorry for them, and the sanctions need to increase until Russia is just like North Korea. Isolated and a pariah.
Ukraine have thousands of dead civilians
Shopping is not the end of life
I hope it gets worse for Russia
yes, sanctions should stay indefinitely
Those women fight with more spirit than do Russian soldiers. Slava Ukraini!
Agree
Don’t mess with Olga. LOL Built like an Ox.
@Noah Lupu 🤣🤣🤣
@Mike Flowers 🤣 Built like a tank. Not a Russian one though! Face like the back end of a bus. Teeth like piano keys, 1, 2, miss few, 99, 100!
That’s nothing compared to the suffering in Ukraine. Slava Ukraini!. 👍🏻❤️🇺🇦✌️🏴🇬🇧
@Gek Po Russia has access to Youtube, the people know, they don’t care enough to act
exactly, there fighting over the brand names that are closing down,i couldnt believe it when i saw how there were thousands waiting in line at a mcdonalds,me,i wouldnt worry about mcdonalds, because soon enough, there wont be anything left.
Maybe like this they will start to understand that resurrecting old glories with wars and invasions will bring them nothing but misery.
@Quartzy_Jane Add to that list of countries Ukraine.
@Charles N. Sure, okay. Let’s have a similar example from history. The Vietnam war ran for nearly 20 years, overseen by Ford, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon, broadly speaking.
This was a war that was considered an act of brutality and aggression by the United states, in a role that is comparable to Russia’s involvement in Ukraine today.
During that time, millions of Americans voted for these presidents. Were they responsible for the senseless murder of thousands of Vietnamese, including countless civilians? Clearly not.
Millions also voted against them, and lost. Were they then at fault because they “let” the opposing administration take power? That’s an absurdity.
Similarly, saying that Russian citizens are at fault because they “let” the KGB into power, or that they voted for them, is a misallocation of blame (and let’s not get into the fact that Putin came into political relevancy 20 years ago, and a huge majority of Russian citizens today had no involvement of any sort in that action. Is the Ukraine war their fault too? Or, like every other person who had nothing to do with this military deployment, are they innocent victims caught in the political crossfire?
Is nothing in comparations with
What the Ukraniens has endured. This may let them think about the war criminals they have in the Kremlin.
Invite Russia to come and HOLIDAY IN UKRAINE NOW!! They might like the new look! Sorry but no running water or working toilets, since being blown up by Russia. No power, no heat, no food, no REST from the constant BOMBING!
I think Russia REALLY needs to FELL THE PAIN!
Slava Ukraini 🇬🇧🇺🇦🌻
I want to feel bad for them but I don’t!
Why’s that ? Did they ask for this ? This is just another sad result of their horrible government. The majority of them are just like us and they are afraid.
No need to feel one way or another, just treat every one of them as you would like to be treated.
I have absolutly no feelings for those people or that country, – nothing.
@Mike Cano Sommer
Same.
@Mike Cano Sommer oh you must come from a country with a perfect government then ?
So at least they’re not having to deal with mortars, artillery and bullets while waiting in line. 🇺🇦😡🇺🇦
Yet.
Exactly
Ukraine 🇺🇦♥ Puhitler 👎👎👎
Great comment. Thanks from Australia 🇦🇺
Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦 💕
